This was a side project exploring solutions for a more sustainable and better performing food package for drive-thru and third party food delivery systems.
Through user interviews and market research, I found three areas of opportunity:
-Maintaining Food Quality
-Sustainability
-Security
The solution was a tamper-evident corrugated container. This solution also utilized compostable and repulpable coatings and adhesives so consumers could dispose of their used container with peace of mind.
I chose to brand my solution to Wendy’s due to their Squarely Sustainable™ initiative which aims to:
-Use Less- reduce unnecessary usage of materials
-Use Better- seek certified sustainable materials where possible
-Spark Action- identify consumer-facing actions that can drive change
-Engage Partners- work with others to find solutions on important issues.
We have all, at one time or another, held onto an old smartphone or tablet that ended up sitting in a drawer because we could never figure out what to use it for. We could not bring ourselves to toss it out because it seemed silly to throw away something which was once so expensive. This solo project was to design a new, lighthearted, and playful way for users to take advantage of their older generation smartphones and tablets at their work space along with a few other accessories.
The solution was Paper Clip, a small line of bent wire frames seemingly light but with the strength to hold our old devices, a coat, and a set of headphones. These pieces were displayed at NeoCon 2016 and a design patent for my design was granted on November 6, 2018.
Home infusion patients struggle to administer their own antibiotics safely and sterilely every day. This project was to design a solution to insure a secure, sterile connection between the IV tubing and patient’s pic line, while making it easy for older adults to do independently.
Through user interviews and market research, I found three opportunities to prevent contamination:
Additional surface area
Defined touch points via color
Simple, intuitive motions
The solution was Butterfly Infusion.
LÜP was a group project created for, and pitched at, MWest 2016. Our idea won 1st Place for the Early Start Up category and $6,500.
The Turnstone design team set out design a table that would be one-of-a-kind over and over again; just as unique as those using it. I assisted in the development process through sketching, prototyping, evaluating, and refining in collaboration with the two Turnstone Industrial Designers dedicated to this project to create a table that could multitask, adapt to the needs of its environment, and be expressive. The result was Bassline, It ultimately became an entire furniture line of its own within Turnstone.
Bassline is a table created for lounge and collaborative spaces balanced by functionality, materiality, adaptability, and fun. Some of these pieces were displayed at NeoCon 2016.
